La Fête du Travail - le 1er mai

La Fête du Travail is an important day in France.

Pourquoi?

1. C'est un jour férie ou un jour chômé.

2. Il y a un défilé des syndicats et travailleurs

3. On donne le muguet

4. Les magasins sont fermés.

Do we have a similar day in New Zealand? When is it? How do you celebrate it?

Look what my host, gave me!

Les Danses Occitanes

Bonjour les filles.

Today I learnt some dance moves. They need perfecting!

L'Occitanie (Occitania) is an historical region in Southern Europe. L'occitane (Occitan) was the main language spoken and is sometimes still used as a second language.
L'Occitanie includes the southern half of France, Monaco, parts of Italy and Spain.

What else did I do today?

  • What did I do and what was included?
  • Where did I go?
  • Where did it depart from?
  • How much did it cost?
  • What languages were offered?

Antigone

Bonjour les filles,

Today I explored a newer part of the inner city. It is called Antigone and began to be developed in the 1970s so it is very new compared to parts of the old town which are nearly 1000 years old.

Antigone was designed by a famous Spanish architect, Ricardo Bofill. The style is called neo-classical.
